Place the rolls in a large enough bowl and pour the hot milk over them. Peel the apples, cut them into quarters and slice them. Beat the butter until creamy, gradually add the sugar and eggs. Squeeze the buns and chop them into small pieces. Mix the rolls, the kirsch, the washed raisins and the apple slices with the butter mixture. Fill a buttered dish with it. Preheat the oven to 200 °C and bake the casserole for 45 to 50 minutes on the middle shelf. If necessary, cover with aluminum foil for the last 10 minutes to prevent it from getting too dark. To serve, sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar on top and offer a wine or possibly vanilla sauce.
