Separate the apples from the skin, remove the core and cut the apples diagonally into 1cm thick slices.

Preheat the electric oven to 200 degrees. Spread the butter on the baking tray. Sprinkle 80 g of sugar and the cinnamon. Place apple slices on top of each other. Cut walnuts in half. Fill the holes in the apples and the gaps between them with walnut halves.

Separate the eggs. Whisk egg yolks with 50 g sugar as well as the cow’s milk until creamy. Mix flour with baking powder, sift into the mixture and fold in. Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks and fold into the batter.

Pour the batter onto the apples and spread. Bake the cake on the second lowest rack for 45-55 minutes (gas mark 3-4). Let cool, loosen the edges with a kitchen knife and turn the cake out onto a plate.

Tip: Cinnamon gives dishes a wonderful sweet and spicy note!
