For gratinated ham fritters, first boil fritters in sufficient salted water according to package directions until tender and strain.

Cut the smoked meat into pieces the size of meatballs (first into thin slices, then into cubes). Finely dice onion and garlic and fry in a hot pan with a little oil until colorless. Add the smoked meat and fry briefly. Add the Fleckerl and mix everything well. Season with marjoram, caraway, salt and pepper.

Stir in eggs, cream and sour cream, pour the mixture into an ovenproof dish and smooth it out. Bake in the preheated oven at 175 °C top/bottom heat for approx. 35-40 minutes. 10 minutes before the end of the baking time, spread the grated cheese on the ham fritters and bake until done. Allow the baked ham patties to cool slightly before enjoying.
