For the black and white bread with cream cheese and carrots, peel the carrot and grate finely. Squeeze the lemon. Mix the grated carrot with the lemon juice and honey. Wash the chives, shake them dry and cut them into fine rolls.

Add the chives and the cream cheese to the carrots and season everything with salt and pepper. Season the spread to taste and spread it thickly on the slices of whole wheat bread. Place the slices of white bread on top and cut each bread into 9 squares.

Arrange the breads on a platter in a checkerboard fashion, alternating the white and dark sides up, and serve the black and white breads with cream cheese and carrot.
