Instructions:

Chop the onions and fry them in a frying pan with butter until brown. Add the garlic and caraway seeds.

Cut the bread into thin slices and toast them briefly on both sides in a frying pan with melted butter and season with pepper and salt.

Then layer the bread slices like roof tiles in a greased gratin dish or ovenproof pan. Spread roasted onions evenly on top and cover with ham slices.

Mix eggs with whipped cream, season with pepper, salt, cayenne pepper and nutmeg and pour over the bread.

Bake in the oven at 200 °C for about 15 minutes until golden brown.

Sprinkle with finely chopped parsley and serve.
