Peel and core apples, divide into slices. Sauté with juice of one lemon, 4 tbsp sugar and 8 tbsp water for 3 to 4 min. In the meantime, slice white bread as thinly as possible and dry toast in the stove. Finely brush an ovenproof dish with fat. In a little fat, brown nuts with 1 tbsp sugar. Add lemon peel. Now mix apples with roasted nuts and white bread and fill into the mold. Mix eggs with crème fraîche, milk, vanilla sugar and spread evenly over it, put butter flakes on top. Bake in the oven at 200 °C for about 25 minutes. Serve with compote or vanilla sauce.

Time: 1 hour (including 25 min gratinating time).
