Instructions:

For the bread or schnitzel soup, layer the bread thinly sliced in a soup plate.lightly sauté diced onion in butter, clarified butter or lard and spread over the bread slices. Pour hot water, beef broth or vegetable stock over the bread. Just enough for the bread to absorb. Then let sit for a few minutes.

Sprinkle chives or any fresh herbs over the bread or schnittel soup.
