Drain the sauerkraut in a colander (save the sauerkraut juice for drinking). In the meantime, sauté the chopped onion in the oil until soft.
Add the sauerkraut. Heat everything for a short time. The sauerkraut is already soft. Season with syrup and caraway seeds.
The potatoes:
Clean the potatoes with a mower brush, cut them into small pieces with the skin and boil them with a cup of water.
Stir in the whipped cream, salt, nutmeg and chives.
You can also mash everything together with a masher to make mashed potatoes.
