Rinse and pit the cherries. Add sugar and hazelnuts, finely grate lemon peel, add and mix everything together well.

Roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about three mm and cut out rounds. Spread cherry filling on each dough center, brush edges with egg white, fold dough over and press together. Brush doughnuts with egg yolk.

Preheat oven to 220 degrees and bake for 20 minutes, dust with powdered sugar. Serve the doughnuts cooled or warm.
