For the cherry ice cream, heat the milk until small bubbles form, but do not allow to boil. Reduce the heat, stir in the sugar and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.

Stir in the cream, salt and strained cherries and allow the mixture to cool completely, stirring the mixture repeatedly.

Then place in an ice cream maker and stir until the cherry ice cream has reached the desired consistency.
