For the chocolate wafers with crunchy almond slivers, first slowly melt the chocolate, coarsely broken into pieces, in the milk. Remove from the heat again and allow to cool briefly.

Mix the flour with vanilla sugar and cinnamon and/or clove powder, stir into the chocolate milk and flavor the mixture with a dash of rum or Grand Marnier. If needed, add a little milk or flour depending on the desired consistency. (Thicker doughs make crispy waffles, thinner doughs make fluffy waffles).

Preheat a waffle iron, brush with a little oil and bake waffles from the mixture.

Meanwhile, toast the almond slivers in melted butter. Sprinkle in sugar, stir through and let caramelize until brown. Spread almond slivers on the still warm waffles and garnish with vanilla ice cream.
