A great cake recipe for any occasion:

Grease a loaf pan well and sprinkle with flour. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.

Slit the vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape out the pulp and whisk with the eggs, sugar, lemon zest and salt in a water bath until lukewarm. Remove the egg mixture from the water bath and stir again until cold. Sift the flour with the cornstarch and stir it in. Melt the butter and fold into the batter while warm but not hot. Fill the dough into the loaf pan (30cm long), smooth it out and bake on the second rack from the bottom for 40-45 min.

After 40 minutes, test the cake with a chopstick. If necessary, bake the cake for a few more minutes. Cool the cake on a cooling rack. Next, sprinkle evenly with powdered sugar.
