For the cranberry sauce, first wash and sort out the cranberries. Stir through with brown sugar and water in a wide saucepan.

Peel, quarter, core, and slice apples diagonally, adding them on the spot to the cranberries in the saucepan.

Simmer the fruit on low heat with the lid closed for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. If necessary, add a little water if the sauce becomes too thick.

Season the cranberry sauce with grated orange zest and clove powder and refrigerate until ready to serve.
