For the currant cake, beat the butter until fluffy, stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time and fold in the flour.

Spread this mixture on a greased and floured baking sheet. For the icing, separate the eggs. Beat the curd until smooth and mix with the yolks and powdered sugar.

Beat the egg whites until stiff, adding the granulated sugar. Mix the whipped cream with the curd mixture and spread on the dough. Spread the currants on top and bake at 180 °C for approx. 40 minutes.
