For the Fleckerl casserole, cook the dough Fleckerl in salted water until al dente, strain and drain in a colander.

Cut the stale rolls into cubes, pour some lukewarm milk over them and let them steep.

Finely slice the onion and garlic and fry them in oil together with the bacon cut into thin strips.

Stir well, remove from heat and let cool. Squeeze out the bread cubes and mix with the mince.

Cut shallots into small cubes and mix with minced meat together with chopped parsley, thyme leaves, cream and onion-bacon roast.

Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Grease a baking dish with butter. Alternate between a layer of dough patties and a layer of meat mixture.

The top layer should be dough fritters. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Bake the Fleckerl casserole in the preheated oven on the middle rack at 180 degrees for about 45 minutes.
