For the Omas “pumpkin Gmias” cut the halved pumpkin again into three longitudinal parts (“columns”). These finely nudelig grate, salt, 1/2 hour let stand and lightly squeeze.

Bring the pumpkin strips to the boil in a wide pot with some water together with paprika, garlic slices, cumin and bay leaf. Acidify with a little apple cider vinegar.

If the vegetables are too liquid, pour off some of the liquid and add 1 tablespoon of flour mixed with a dash of water to thicken.

Warm 2 tablespoons of the vegetables with sour cream and stir in. Season to taste, mix in paprika, bell pepper and dill. Season to taste with a little lemon juice (or vinegar).

Use: as a side dish with boiled beef, minced meat or with toasted bacon and bread strips.

Cooking time: about 10 minutes.
