Preheat oven to 150 °C. Whip the egg whites until stiff, fold in the sugar, vanilla sugar and nuts. Form small heaps with two teaspoons and place on the wafers, placing a hazelnut in the center of each. Bake macaroons at 150 °C for 20 minutes until light brown.
