In a very large frying pan (or large metal pot), heat a little oil and fry the diced onion briefly. Add the bacon, continue to fry, constantly moving with the spatula. Heat the finished spaetzle according to package instructions (i.e. boil briefly in simmering water or heat in the microwave). Add the spaetzle to the onion and bacon mixture and mix well. Finally, empty the cheese over the top, stir one last time and serve when the cheese melts. Pepper to taste. (Salt is not absolutely necessary, because bacon and cheese are spicy.)Fits perfectly: Sprinkle with chopped parsley or chive rolls.Hot and good: Instead of pepper use dried, grated chili peppers.
