For the lilac jelly, pick the lilac blossoms on a sunny day – use only perfect blossoms! Heat white wine, grape juice and 250 ml water with the jelling sugar in a pot. Add the lilac blossoms and boil for 5 minutes until bubbling.

Make the jelly test. To do this, drip some of the jelly onto a cold plate. If it becomes firm, the jelly is ready. If not, let the mixture boil a little longer.

Hang a large sieve in a pot and line it with a straining cloth (muslin cloth). Let the juice run through and wring out the cloth well with the flowers.

Now pour the lilac jelly into prepared twist-off jars. Drizzle a little alcohol over the top, light and seal immediately. Place with the lid down on a tea towel and let cool.
