For the potato gratin, peel potatoes and cut into slices about ½ cm thick. Peel the onion and cut into thin strips.

Put the whipping cream, milk and onion strips in a large pot and bring to a boil while stirring.

Peel the garlic and press it into the sauce. Add the potatoes and season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and fondor, stir in, continue cooking until the sauce has a nice consistency.

Butter a high casserole dish, add the potato/sauce mixture and sprinkle with the grated cheese.

Bake the potato gratin in a preheated oven (170°C convection oven) for about 1 hour.
