Instructions:

Cut bread rolls into very narrow slices. Place in a suitable bowl.

Heat the milk (1) with half the sugar (1) and the vanilla sugar in a saucepan until the sugar has dissolved. Pour over the bun slices and infuse.

Remove the skin from the apples, cut them into quarters and remove the core. Cut the flesh into very thin slices. Mix with the remaining sugar, washed, drained raisins and almond kernels.

Grease a gratin dish with light butter. Starting with bread-milk mixture, alternate layers of apple mixture and bread in the dish. Last layer: bread-milk mixture.

For the glaze, mix eggs in a saucepan with milk (2). Combine sugar (2), cinnamon and lemon zest in a dessert bowl and stir into egg milk. Pour the egg milk over the pile. Put the pile on the middle shelf of the oven heated to 200 degrees and bake for about 50 minutes.

After the baking time bring the pile to the table on the spot in the form. It is intended as a filling dessert with vanilla sauce or fruit juice.
