For the tomato and onion soup, peel the onion and cut into rings. Melt butter in a pot and sauté onion in it. Peel and chop garlic.

Boil water in another pot. Immerse tomatoes and peel off the skin. Dice tomatoes and add to onion rings along with tomato paste and garlic.

Deglaze with beef broth and continue to simmer until vegetables are tender. Remove the soup from the heat, stir in the whipping cream and puree.

Season the tomato-onion soup with salt and pepper and serve garnished with basil leaves.
