For the sour cherry punch, rinse the orange with hot water and rub dry. Grate 1 tablespoon of zest and squeeze out the juice. Mix the orange zest with the sugar.

Heat red wine with orange sugar, orange juice, cinnamon stick and nutmeg in a pot until foam forms on the surface. Remove from heat and let cool. Place the sour cherries with the juice and sour cherry brandy in an earthenware dish and pour the red wine mixture over them. Cover and leave to infuse in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
