Instructions:

Knead the ingredients into a dough. Spread two-thirds of the dough in a 28cm diameter cake springform pan and raise the sides. Pre-bake the dough base at 200 °C for 15 minutes. For the first filling, peel the apples, cut them into quarters and steam them with a little water until soft. Later drain the apples and cool. Form the apples on the pre-baked base and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. For the second filling, mix poppy seeds, red wine and juice of one lemon. Whip egg yolks and sugar until creamy, whip egg whites until stiff. Mix everything carefully and spread the amount evenly on the apples. Cut a stencil from cardboard with the eight-pointed Waldeck star.

Roll out the rest of the dough and cut out a dough star according to the template and place it on the poppy seed mixture. Bake the star cake for 50 minutes at 200 °C.

Our tip: Use high-quality red wine for a particularly fine taste!
