A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Cut rolls into thicker slices, set aside. Sift flour into a large enough bowl, gradually add milk, stir well, add eggs, salt and whipped cream, stir everything together until smooth. Heat oil in a frying pan. Soak the bread slices briefly in hot water to soften the crust “then quickly squeeze them a little between both flat hands, they must not lose their give”, dip them into the pancake batter, bake in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, bake all the others in the same way.

Arrange the water sparrows on a platter, sprinkle with sugar and bring wine sauce or compote to the table.
