For the young onion blackberry scones, preheat the oven to 180 °C. Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl and mix with sugar, salt and the young onions. Add the butter cut into small cubes and mash with your fingers.

Pour the buttermilk over it. Save a tablespoon of the buttermilk for later. Gently knead the whole mixture into a dough – it doesn’t have to be smooth!

Roll out the dough to about 2 inches thick and cut into random pieces. Spread the pieces on a baking sheet with baking paper and gently press the blackberries (spacing/amount to taste) into the dough.

Press in as deep as you can without squishing them. Finally, brush the scones with the remaining buttermilk and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
